James "Pete" Rapp was born in Spencer County and has been a
life-long resident
of Southwest
Indiana.
He graduated from South Spencer High School and then lived in
Knox County when he attended Vincennes University
where he studied
Architectural Drafting. Pete then moved to Vanderburgh County while a student at
the University of Southern Indiana, where he majored in English,
before he returned to Spencer County.
Pete worked for Guardian Industry until becoming self employed
in the early 1990's. He currently lives in Luce Township with
his wife Susan, who he married in 1989. They have a 14 year old son and a 10 year
old daughter. The Rapp family attend the Richland United
Methodist Church.

Pete
serves as the Luce Township Trustee a position he was first elected
to in 2002. He has since has
obtained his Department of Local Government Finance, Level I
Assessor-Appraiser Certification, which focuses
primarily on appraising
residential property and his Level II Assessor-Appraiser
Certification which centers on business appraisals. To achieve
Level II certification you must complete comprehensive real
estate appraisal, accounting, and property tax law classes.
Level II is the highest certification awarded by the State of
Indiana and meets the requirement for performance as
either a county or
township assessor.
In addition to his public service role as trustee,
Pete also
serves on the Spencer County Board of Planning and sits on the
Spencer County Property Appeals Board.
Rapp also has a long and varied history of public and community
service including serving as a volunteer firefighter for the
Luce Township Fire Department. In addition he has served the
department as an Instructor, Captain and President. He also
trained and served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the
Spencer County Emergency Medical Services.

Pete is a member of the Richland Lions Club and served on
its Board of Directors, including the position of Board
President. Other area involvement includes the South Spencer Youth
League where he volunteers as a member of their Board.
