Meet Pete

"Let Your Voice Be Heard"

James "Pete" Rapp was born in Spencer County and has been a life-long resident of Southwest Indiana. He graduated from South Spencer High School and then lived in Knox County when he attended Vincennes University where he studied Architectural Drafting. Pete then moved to Vanderburgh County while a student at the University of Southern Indiana, where he majored in English, before he returned to Spencer County.

Pete worked for Guardian Industry until becoming self employed in the early 1990's. He currently lives in Luce Township with his wife Susan, who he married in 1989. They have a 14 year old son and a 10 year old daughter. The Rapp family attend the Richland United Methodist Church.

Pete serves as the Luce Township Trustee a position he was first elected to in 2002. He has since has obtained his Department of Local Government Finance, Level I Assessor-Appraiser Certification, which focuses primarily on appraising residential property and his Level II Assessor-Appraiser Certification which centers on business appraisals. To achieve Level II certification you must complete comprehensive real estate appraisal, accounting, and property tax law classes. Level II is the highest certification awarded by the State of Indiana and meets the requirement for performance as either a county or township assessor.

In addition to his public service role as trustee, Pete also serves on the Spencer County Board of Planning and sits on the Spencer County Property Appeals Board.

Rapp also has a long and varied history of public and community service including serving as a volunteer firefighter for the Luce Township Fire Department. In addition he has served the department as an Instructor, Captain and President. He also trained and served as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Spencer County Emergency Medical Services.

Pete is a member of the Richland Lions Club and served on its Board of Directors, including the position of Board President. Other area involvement includes the South Spencer Youth League where he volunteers as a member of their Board.
